Mimosa is one of the most popular new-school hybrid weed strains, and for good reason.
Produced by Symbiotic Genetics in 2017, Mimosa made more than a splash in it's first year being available to consumers and growers, taking out the top honours for "Best Sativa", "Best Concentrate", and "Best Overall Flower" at the San Bernardino based Chalice Cup, along with a raft of others including 2nd place at the 2019 Karma Cup for “Best Sativa”. All up, between 2018 and 2024, Mimosa has collected 16 1st or 2nd place finishes at the more important events in the USA and throughout Europe.
Mimosa is a Sativa dominant weed strain, with a genetic split sitting in the 70/30 region. The genetic background is pretty damn impressive, with Clementine and Purple Punch coming together to create a cultivar worth the hype.
But what is it that makes Mimosa so special?
- The Taste and Smell - Mimosa, along with a few other seminal strains emerging in the past few years, is part of a growing trend towards overly fruity and citrusy flavours. But unlike some of the competition, Mimosa strikes a beautiful balance of both sweet and sour, and thanks to its Purple Punch parentage, there's a nice level of herbal and floral notes that round out everything.
- The Effects - Mimosa, when grown correctly, can pump out anywhere between 22% - 27% THC, which puts this strain directly in the 'High Potency" category. But, as we all know, THC potency isn't the be-all and end-all. The key here is that Mimosa consistently delivers a clear-headed first 40 minutes or so, and then slowly transitions more towards the indica side of the spectrum. Really well balanced, and so much fun.
- The Therapeutic Benefits - With a terpene profile dominated by myrcene, alpha-pinene, and beta-caryophyllene, it should come as no surprise that the Mimosa weed strain can be a really great therapeutic addition to your day or night. Mimosa can help you get yourself going in the morning, with a subtle boost of energy and creativity. It is also great for the afternoon or early evening, helping reduce stress and inflammation and control chronic pain.
- The Looks - The aesthetics that Mimosa serves up are just as impressive as its taste and effects. The buds are medium/large sized, with a gorgeous level of purple splashed over a darker-than-normal green backing. Then there is the ridiculous amount of trichomes - super frosty
