Medical Hybrid Hybrid THC 22% CBD -

When you hear "old-school legends", a few strains will probably pop to mind. But chief among these has got to be OG Kush, a truly mythical beast in a market awash with thousands of strains.

One part landrace (Hindu Kush) mixed with another super iconic cultivar (Chemdawg), with the result being almost more than the sum of its parts. When we describe more modern strains, we often list out all the awards they've won. With OG Kush, that list would literally take up the rest of this page, but be assured that this strain is up there with the most celebrated of all time, and for good reason.

One of the first commercially available options that tips the 20% THC mark, often reaching as high as 26%, OG Kush weed strain forever changed the game. It wasn't long after its introduction that a huge range of Kush crosses began to appear, with the Indica dominant hybrid category being dominated by Kush options for the next decade or so (and even up until today).

But what exactly makes OG Kush the true "Queen of the Kush"?

  • The Effects - When OG Kush appeared, the California medical cannabis revolution was just getting underway. All of a sudden, strains were being looked at in a totally new way, and this quickly led to OG Kush being heralded as the next great strain. Potentially therapeutic applications include PTSD, appetite loss, anxiety and chronic pain relief. But it's not all medical - OG Kush also provides a deeply relaxing and euphoric high, making it a staple in the rec scene for over two decades now.
  • The Aesthetics - Indica dominance is usually a sign of dense, glistening buds, but OG Kush turns that up to the max. When grown well, the buds are almost rock hard (while still being a little 'bouncy'). Speckled light and dark green hues throughout, with a splash of almost red in the bud structure and the brightest of orange pistils.
  • The Taste and Smell - A real time machine of an offering, OG Kush takes you straight back to where the modern weed scene began and lets you taste a little bit of history. Does it mirror the hugely fruity and diesely buds of today? No, of course not, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be celebrated. Expect a strong sour lemon and pine profile, with subtle undertones of herbal earthiness and spice.
