Blue Dream

Also known as: Azure Haze
Medical Hybrid Hybrid THC 18% CBD -

With roots stretching back more than two decades, Blue Dream is one of the most celebrated weed strains ever. This Indica dominant hybrid hit the Northern California market in the early 2000s (some say 2002, others 2003), and instantly made waves in both recreational and medical weed circles.

While we do know the direct genetic lineage (a cross of Blueberry and Haze), the true origins of Blue Dream are somewhat of a mystery, with a couple of big-name breeders claiming to be the original creators.
There are very few strains that stand the test of time, but Blue Dream has proven to be a consistent favourite among consumers, patients, and cultivators. This is due to a few key factors that are easy to see, smell, and feel when you have a bud in your hands, rolled up to perfection.

  • The Flavour and Aroma - In recent years, the new-school weed strain scene has become dominated by pungent, fuel-like terpene profiles. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, some of us still long for the days of fruity, floral, and even skunky aromas. Blue Dream delivers a complex and multi-layered experience in this regard, with sweet blueberry notes mixed with hints of strawberries and cream, and a gorgeous undercurrent of both skunk and Haze.
  • The High - Blue dream was one of the first hybrid weed strains to really dominate the Californian medical market, and for good reason. The 18% to 22% THC percentage offers a high that balances both physical and cerebral effects, with an initial burst of euphoria and creativity that eventually levels off into a relaxing body buzz. Perfect for patients looking to reduce the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and chronic pain without getting glued to the floor.
  • The Looks - Blue Dream looks as good as she smells, tastes, and feels. The buds are usually oversized and chunky, with light green hues speckled with a slight blueishness in certain phenotypes and plenty of orange hairs that scream "top-shelf". The trichome coverage is off the rails.
  • The Adaptability - One of the main things that sets Blue Dream apart from other early 2000s strains is its versatility. This was a time when hybrid weed offerings were really just starting to take over the market, but Blue Dream was one of the first to really bridge the gap between Indica and Sativa genetics. This is why you can still find it being offered by most of the major UK private medical cannabis clinics and in almost every dispensary/coffee shop in the USA and the Nederland's.
